If you have a child with learning differences – this may sound like you:
Your child is struggling in school and you don’t feel acknowledged or listened to by your child’s teacher or school.
Your child has a newly identified learning disability (dyslexia, dyscalculia, etc.) or other health impairment (ADHD, for example) and you are struggling to navigate the special education process at their school.
You feel like you are alone and nobody knows how you feel. You need someone to listen and don’t know who to trust.
You don’t have to go it alone!

An Individualized Education Program or IEP is a blueprint or plan for a child’s Special Education progress at school. The IEP provides individualized special education and related support services to meet a child’s unique needs. A 504 Plan is a plan for how the school will provide support and remove barriers for a student with a disability. It offers services and changes to the school environment to enable students to learn alongside their peers. Both an IEP, and a 504 plan are provided at no cost to families.

Yes, the school district where the private school is located is responsible for spearheading “Child Find.” This process helps start the identification and determination of eligibility of kids with special education and related services and is not limited to public school students alone. New Jersey families interested in learning more can review the guidance by the New Jersey Department of Education here.

After we have had our initial 30-minute call and we mutually agree to work together, then we determine which education package investment will be appropriate for your child’s case. We know each child is unique and some cases may take additional time. Consulting services may also be offered at an hourly rate, once the package investment has been completed. Average costs for special education parent advocate range from $500 to $3,000 and up, depending on the complexities of the case. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please don’t hesitate to contact me as I set aside a limited amount of pro-bono consultant hours each quarter.
